Mad Men Is An Aries This Time
The day before my birthday 2012 is when the buzziest show since Downton Abbey will return. Much later than that, Matthew Weiner has identified the ending of the entire series as being on some arcane Malick shit, for better or worse.
But I’ve spent the winter preoccupied with a Sterling Cooper Draper Price timeline that would include the megamergers of the eighties, the popularization of the the three-agency structure, and the obsession with consolidation that changed the industry. There’s no way SCDP makes it through all that intact, let alone the dotcom boom & bust and 9/11.
So knowing Weiner knows how it ends and that it incorporates the present in some ethereal way is defunct for us. All we need to know is: does Don Draper as we know him exist in double-knit?
