Getting in a few words on Gingrich before he trundles back to Toad Manor for good:

It’s not just that we know that marriage is fragile but survives — or doesn’t — we also know that people are delicate, and have horrible experiences that you imagine could destroy careers and relationships and finally shatter a life. But they don’t. I would much prefer to be reminded of that than to know about four decades spent in Replicant perfection.”

The awful truth about Newt, speaking as a former chairman of the Ways & Means committee on mistreating someone you love, is that his lies make sense. The one about being too patriotic for fidelity is one of the most awe-inspiring flail injuries ever. Scarily, I even get it a little. But this is no way to find someone sensible.
